As we go forward into the New Year, we can be Soldiers for Christ!
I’m not saying a kind of soldier where you go into battle, or like it says in the next verse.
2 Samuel 10:12 (NIV)
12 Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in his sight.
Of coarse we will be fighting battles everyday as being Christians against the Evil one.
This is why we put the Armor of of God to protect us!
Ephesians 6:11-17 (NIV)
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
This next verse seems a like hard, but I will explain after the verse.
2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV)
Thou therefore endure hardness, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
Now the verse was written a very long time ago. We don’t have to endure hardness to be a good soldier, but what we do have to do… is spread the word of God to everyone who will hear it. That means at, work, school, grocery lines, etc. EVERYONE!
Telling stories to your children about Jesus so they know who he is, and what he did for us, and how wonderful God is in the scheme of things.
Being a Soldier of Christ may not be easy, but if you believe in the cause, it won’t be hard. At least there is no killing involve like it says though out the bible. There is just word of mouth, and your testimony.
Psalm 44:5 (NIV)
5 Through you we push back our enemies; through your name we trample our foes.
