Day Two – Rooted
But his is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates and He shall be like a tree by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither, And whatever he does – Psalms 1:2-3 (NKJV)
We are built up through the word of God. There is something so powerful that happens inside of us when we take pleasure in the scriptures daily, and we speak the word of God over ourselves and our future.
This scripture describes an individual who daily engages with the word as being, “like a tree”. A tree is secure, immovable and almost unshakeable. Why? Because of its roots’ system. The roots are responsible for absorbing all nutrients from the ground and essentially it gives life to the whole tree, so that the tree can flourish.
The roots also support the tree and help it to be anchored in the ground securely. Without the roots, the tree can neither be upright, nor flourish.
Without the word of God and the constant meditation (studying and speaking) of it, you cannot live right before The Lord and you cannot flourish the way God desires you to.
The word of God impacts every area of your life, causing you to be fruitful in character, to be renewed in the mind, and to prosper in every way, setting you on the path that God has designed for you. You also can’t experience God and know Him apart from the scriptures. For you to know God, you must know His word.
How rooted are you? How much time do you spend reading and studying the bible? Can you give more time?
